There are [G 16 / parapets] and battlements atop the wall. Each seven-foot-high battlement has a small opening to watch over the surrounding countryside. Another small opening provides a spot for archers to fire from. On other sections of walls, such as those at Shalingkou Pass, battlements have been built on two sides of the watch towers.
